Koch Excavating Thrives on Kubota KX61’s Versatility →
From Construction Equipment Guide... Robert Koch founded Koch Excavating of Palmyra, PA, in the 1960s, and throughout his career he has tried out many excavators. But for the past six years, he has become loyal to Kubota compact excavators, particularly the KX61. Koch purchased his KX61 in May 2001 from Messick’s Equipment, based in Elizabethtown, PA. Since then, he has been using the machine on residential and commercial applications, such as digging and laying stone amphitheaters, cobblestone streets, basements, retaining walls, removing entire sections of sidewalks and building retention ponds. The $20-million facility is the new home for production of four Komatsu backhoe loaders including the WB140-2N, WB140PS, WB150-2N and the WB150PS. Located 35 mi. northwest of Columbia, SC, the NMO facility is set on 80 acres (32 ha). The 200,000-sq.-ft. facility is the fifth major manufacturing plant Komatsu has established in North America. The water is flowing smoothly again under the streets near Kodak in Rochester, NY. Working 12-hour days, Villager Construction, of Fairport, replaced 3,500 ft. (1,066 m) of concrete water pipe with new 36-in. (91.4 cm) diameter ductile iron piping.
