JLG Industries Inc. has announced organization changes to further support the Company’s international growth opportunities for its European telehandler, aerial work platform, and excavator products. Commenting on the changes, Bill Lasky, chairman of the board, president and chief executive officer, said, "The introduction of the JLG telehandler product line into the European marketplace is of strategic importance, and we are pleased that the early response from potential customers has been very encouraging. The implementation of these organizational changes is expected to further drive the momentum of our international sales efforts for all our products not only in Europe but also in the developing markets of Latin America. JLG has established a presence in these key markets, which have exceptional potential to contribute to the future growth of our business." Wayne Lawson has been appointed as vice president of sales for the United Kingdom, Continental Europe and Developing Markets, reporting directly to Israel Celli, vice president of international sales, marketing and customer support. In this capacity, Lawson will direct all sales activity within his assigned regions and will continue to provide direction for the marketing and customer support for all of Europe, including Scandinavia. Additionally, Lawson will be responsible for developing the sales plan and support needed for excavator products throughout Europe. "Since joining JLG last year, Wayne has contributed significantly in positioning JLG as a leading supplier in the UK and in making significant inroads into many promising markets in the Middle East and Eastern Europe," noted Celli. "His understanding of the market and commitment to excellence in customer service will greatly contribute to executing our strategy to be the global leader in all the markets served by JLG aerial work platforms and excavator products." Prior to joining JLG, he worked for 12 years at Grove Worldwide where he last served as senior vice president sales and marketing. In that capacity, he was responsible for the European marketing and distribution for both crane and aerial work platform product lines. Previously, Lawson was head of the International Division of Lansing Linde Ltd. responsible for the sale of forklift products and systems throughout Europe, Africa and the Middle East. Earlier in his career, Lawson was export manager of Coles Cranes Limited, based in the UK. Maurizio Risso has been appointed as sales director for European Telehandlers, also reporting to Celli. In this new position, Risso assumes responsibility for the sales, market development, and support for JLG’s European telehandler product line. Risso joins JLG after serving nearly 10 years as the overseas sales manager for Merlo, a prominent Italian manufacturer and distributor of telehandlers. His responsibilities included sales development in the European Economic Community, Eastern Europe and African markets, experience that JLG can leverage to further expand sales of its new products into these key markets. He served as General Field Engineer for Schlumberger Oilfield Services for five years, and earlier in his career served as a programmer analyst for Olivetti Computers. Davide Barbon has been named as director of product management of the European Telehandler, reporting directly to Risso. In his new position, Barbon has assumed full responsibility for coordinating the product development and marketing research needed to support the European telehandler product line. Barbon joined JLG in 1996 and has served as a market statistical analyst, international sales specialist, and manager of international sales for key markets in Latin America. Most recently, he has served as a project specialist in business development with involvement in the European telehandler acquisition. Tony Sterner has been named general manager of Latin American sales, reporting to Celli, with full responsibility for JLG product distribution in all Latin American territories, including Central America, South America, Mexico, and the Caribbean. "Tony has served successfully as regional sales manager for the area since joining JLG in 1998, and we are fortunate to have someone with his experience and demonstrated knowledge of the industry to focus on these important markets," said Celli. "Although challenged by the economies of most Latin American countries at this time, I am confident that with Tony’s intense focus on the customer and commitment to excellence, JLG will continue to be recognized as the market leader." Prior to joining JLG, Sterner was employed by Grove Worldwide for more than 18 years, where he last served as district manager for Latin America with responsibility for sales of cranes and aerial work platforms. Previously, he was district service representative for its full line of products in 12 Latin American countries.
