Kenco Group Builds $12M Warehouse for General Mills in TN →

The Kenco Group, based in Chattanooga, TN, and operating in excess of 15 million sq. ft. of warehouse space in 19 states and Canada, has expanded in Wauhatchie, TN. The $23-million project, which straddles the state line of Georgia includes a 688,000-sq.-ft. $12-million warehouse that will store cereal. It has been designed with room for future expansion up to a million sq. ft. General Mills moved in as tenant in February. As owner/developer, Kenco will play a role in economic development, and likely receive some leeway on property taxes. Gehl Company, a manufacturer of compact construction and agricultural equipment, reported net sales for the year ended December 31, 2002 of $232.6 million, compared to $240.4 million recorded for the prior year. Net income, before non-recurring charges, for the year ended December 31, 2002, totaled $1.7 million, or $.30 per diluted share. Net income in 2001, exclusive of non-recurring charges, was $5.4 million, or $.99 per diluted share. Non-recurring after-tax charges in 2002 were $621,000, or $.11 per diluted share, related to previously announced restructuring and plant rationalization initiatives.  Click for more...

For the nearly 80,000 motorists speeding across the I35E Bridge over the Mississippi River as they head into or out of St. Paul, MN, the only signs of construction activity are a couple of cranes towering slightly above the bridge deck. However, below the deck, construction crews, during the last year, have constructed five new bridge piers and hoisted into place the first three out of five lines of steel girders to carry the northbound lanes of a completely new bridge. Southwest Virginia Memorial Bridge →

In April 2001, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) began work to replace the 52-year-old Southwest Virginia Memorial Bridge over the New River and the Norfolk Southern Railroad tracks. The bridge, which is located on Route 11 and links Radford and Fairlawn in Pulaski County, is a single structure with two lanes for northbound traffic and two lanes for southbound traffic. When completed in fall 2004, the new bridge will have two structures, each with three lanes, and both spans will have sidewalks and bike lanes. Replacing the Southwest Virginia Memorial Bridge first involves constructing a new southbound bridge, then demolishing the existing bridge and, finally, building a new northbound bridge.  Click for more...
