$162M Skyscraper Grows Roots on Mobile Waterfront →

From Construction Equipment Guide... Workers currently are laying the groundwork for the tallest skyscraper in Alabama and one of the tallest buildings in the Southeast. The Retirement Systems of Alabama’s (RSA) $162-million, 800-ft. (243.8 m) tall office building is scheduled to be complete in late 2005, according to Ron Blount, project manager. (22.5 km) stretch of Interstate 26 has been under way for the past 10 years. On any given day, there were between 50 and 275 workers at the job site, along with three contractors and 79 subcontractors, hired over the course of the project. Mangum Contractors LLC, as the general contractor for the project, which will cost approximately $9 million. Situated on 98 acres (39.2 h) in Durham, the site is just north of I-40 on the east side of State Route NC 751 and 16 mi. (25.6 km) west of Raleigh. Urban Diamond SC Interchange Project Sparkles →

From Construction Equipment Guide... A $16-million urban diamond configuration project will improve the traffic flow at the U.S. 378 and I-26 interchange in Lexington County, SC. The project, which began in January and is slated for completion in October 2004, consists of a bridge replacement and interchange modifications in West Columbia. From Construction Equipment Guide... Holidays wreak havoc on the highways of Nebraska. Just ask Les O’Donnell, spokesman for District 6 of the Cornhuskers’ State Department of Roads. Last Fourth of July, torrential rains washed out the approaches to two bridges on Interstate 80, closing the nation’s busiest highway for a week while repairs were made. Guests arrived Friday, April 11 and were treated to dinner and entertainment. A “Log a Load for Kids” raffle also was held.
