Sales Strong at Ritchie Bros. Auction in Cleveland →

From Construction Equipment Guide... Ritchie Bros. held an auction April 12 in Twinsburg, Ohio, just outside of Cleveland. The auction was a complete dispersal of equipment for DDD Enterprises, whose owner is retiring after 49 years in business. A wide range of equipment was up for bid including backhoes, dozers, excavators, trucks and trailers. The auction drew a sizable crowd of enthusiastic bidders. Cerra Inc. Is Rock Solid With Equipment From Foley →

From Construction Equipment Guide... Excavating at different levels along a 170-ft. (51.8 m) wall of Diabase is a job as hard as the 110,000 yds. (100,584 m) of rock being removed. The Cerra Inc. crew is making short work of it, due to resilient Caterpillar equipment from Foley. “We have one 365 excavator 100 feet in the air,” said Alan Cerra, owner of the Sparta, N.J.-based company. Boys Drive Excavator at Pa. Strip Mine, Smash Bulldozer →

(AP) State police said two boys, ages 12 and 9, drove a large excavator at a southwestern Pennsylvania strip mine, smashing a bulldozer in the process. Police said the 12-year-old will be charged with felony criminal mischief in Greene County Juvenile Court. The other boy is too young to be charged under Pennsylvania law. Police said Ali Co. Excavating and Construction, of Kingwood, W.Va., has insurance for the mine site in Monongahela Township, but not the equipment that was damaged.  Click for more...

Volvo Plans to Spend $100M →

Over the next couple of years, Volvo CE plans to spend $100 million in its Shippensburg, Pa., manufacturing facility and start production of Volvo wheel loaders, excavators and articulated haulers in North America. The plant is the first manufacturing facility in North America for Wilh. Schulz GMB of Krefeld, Germany. The Schulz Xtruded Products plant will produce pipes for the oil and gas industry, and plans are to initially employ 200 workers.
