Caterpillar Inc. announced plans June 17 to significantly increase its manufacturing capabilities and capacity for hydraulic excavators that will be produced at a facility now under construction in Victoria, Texas. In August of 2010, Caterpillar announced that it would build the excavator plant in Victoria, investing about $130 million to open the 850,000 sq. ft. operation. A wide range of equipment was up for bid including backhoes, dozers, excavators, trucks and trailers. The auction drew a sizable crowd of enthusiastic bidders. (AP) State police said two boys, ages 12 and 9, drove a large excavator at a southwestern Pennsylvania strip mine, smashing a bulldozer in the process. Police said the 12-year-old will be charged with felony criminal mischief in Greene County Juvenile Court. The other boy is too young to be charged under Pennsylvania law. Police said Ali Co.
