The website Oddity Central is reporting that Chinese construction company Broad Sustainable Building recently released an online video showing how they managed to build a 57-storey building in a record time of 19 days. ’Sky City’, located in Changsha city, comprises 800 homes and office space to accommodate a total of 4,000 people. The Shard, a 95-story tower which stands at 310 meter (1,016 feet), dwarfs almost everything around it, including nearby Tower Bridge and St Paul’s Cathedral. From Construction Equipment Guide... LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) Developers are scrapping plans to build a futuristic skyscraper in downtown Louisville because of financial concerns. A letter making the announcement was to be sent Aug. 1 to Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear and Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer, according to The Courier-Journal. It was signed by the development team of Laura Lee Brown, Steve Wilson, Craig Greenberg and Steve Poe. The letter said the team pursued several financing options for Museum Plaza, but was unsuccessful in putting together a viable package due to the “challenging lending market.” It advised the state to withdraw an application it made to U.S.  Click for more...

Graham, the pioneering architect who designed Chicago’s two most iconic skyscrapers, including the formerly named Sears Tower, died at age 84, a public relations firm hired by his family said March 8.
