From Construction Equipment Guide... The Moxy MT36 demo truck was recently hauled up to Goodall and Sons Tractor, Westboro, MA, because Carl Goodall, owner, wanted to see how the truck ran. John McCourt Construction Co, a large company in the Boston area, agreed to demo the truck. McCourt was capping a large landfill in Quincy and turning it into a golf course. The MT36, working along with four Volvo A35Cs, was being loaded by a Hitachi EX550, and then hauled uphill about one-half mile.  Click for more...

Route 141 will be relocated and enhanced from south of Clayton Road to Vance Road. The new road will be a six-lane highway with limited access. Sleepy Stretch of Highway 87 Gets Barnhill’s Wake-Up Call →

Looking at a map of North Carolina, the 13-mile (21 km) stretch of NC 87 angling southeast from Interstate 95 would not seem to warrant four-laning. At its southern end, the roadway reaches nothing more than the outskirts of the small town of Tar Heel. The destination hardly seems worth $20.5 million that the NC Department of Transportation is spending on upgrading the highway. Gradall Road Show Hits J.W. Burress in North Carolina →

Burress hosted a Gradall Road Show at its Charlotte branch on Friday, March 30, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. More than 100 area contractors came in to see and operate the three Gradall models that were on hand. The models included Gradall XL3100, XL3200 and XL3300. The Gradall XL3100 is road legal at highway speeds. Beers-York Finds Creek a New Home During School Project →

From Construction Equipment Guide... They had to move a creek to construct a new Hollis Academy building in Greenville, SC. The kindergarten-through-fifth-grade school building will replace an existing structure that sits in front of it on a 5-acre (2-h) building site at the intersection of Goodrich and Eighth streets. The entire parcel contains about 25 acres (10 h), according to school officials. Alabama Bridge Builders Inc., worked hard to drive approximately 3,200 piles before its deadline, at the new Honda Manufacturing of Alabama vehicle and engine plant in Lincoln, AL, 40 miles east of Birmingham. Alabama Bridge Builders used a pair of new Link-Belt LS-138H II cranes equipped with Delmag diesel pile hammers to drive the pile to bedrock. A 30-ton (27 t) capacity RTC-8030 Series II rough terrain crane is also on site serving a multitude of support functions, including positioning 60-ft.  Click for more...


Scott Bridge Calls Specialist for Consultation on U.S. 31 Project →

The Alabama Department of Transportation has awarded a $9.7-million contract to Scott Bridge Company Inc. for work on U.S. 31 in Montgomery, Elmore and Autauga counties. Work on the contract, which involves roadwork and relief bridge replacement over the Alabama River, began in May 1999. The construction on U.S. 31 extends two miles from milepost 185 to milepost 187, including the main bridge over the Alabama River, which spans 2,310 ft.  Click for more...

At 10 tons (9 t), the PC95R-2 is designed for utility, housing development and swimming pool contractors who encounter work in confined spaces and require an excavator that can dig outside the area of its tracks.
