On the shore of Presque Isle Bay in Erie, PA, the Erie County Convention Center Authority (ECCCA) is embarking on the largest development project in Erie’s history. Along with the 28,800 sq.-ft. (2,676 sq m) exhibition hall, the Bayfront Convention Center Complex also will feature an upscale hotel and restaurant development alongside the U.S. Brig Niagara and the new Erie Maritime Museum. From Construction Equipment Guide... Faced with moving approximately 200,000 cu. yds. of dirt at a 50-acre subdivision in Grayson, GA, the crew at Cross Pipeline Inc. knew they needed more trucks. As a result, the firm ended up bringing on two extra Moxy MT31 trucks. The machines were the first two delivered to a job site from the Lawrenceville, GA-based Stafford Tractor Company since it took on the Moxy line. Despite two tropical storms, a hurricane and a group seeking to stop the project, site preparation work on the roughly $100 million Spanish Fort Town Center project is proceeding on schedule, according to the developer. Twin Bridges Will Mark First Time PA Uses Precast Concrete Segmental Method →

The two spans will replace a 55-year-old bridge owned by the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission (PTC). An improved piece of iron made its national debut this spring at the U.S. 74 highway project in Robeson County, NC. According to Terry Moore, of R.W. Moore Equipment Company, headquartered in Raleigh, NC, the John Deere 210 rubber-tired excavator was selected for this project because of the large job site and the machine’s ability to set jersey barriers and pipes and dig trenches. “The 210 requires less maintenance, is more efficient and compact, and can do more operations than [our previous machines],” Moore said.  Click for more...
