Texas Environmental Recycling’s (TER) Field Supervisor Mike Malander recently purchased a Komatsu PC220LC-6 excavator from Continental Equipment Co. (CECo), Fort Worth, TX. This is the first new Komatsu machine sold out of the branch, according to CECo salesperson Dick Mulligan. TER and its parent company CERES Environmental Services Inc. have about twice as many Komatsu excavators as other machines, according to Malander. “When we compare the two brands of machine in their size classes, the Komatsu machines are faster and give the operator a more balanced power to apply to the job,” he said. “The [other] machines are bulkier. I feel that the faster and more streamlined Komatsu machine puts all the power into the project. And, the fuel economy seems to be better in the more streamlined Komatsu machine.” CERES Environmental Services has opened a Southwestern office in Houston, TX, which supports the Dallas projects; and, CERES has offices in Florida and Puerto Rico, both doing extensive environmental cleanup due to the hurricanes that have plagued the Southeast.
