Wacker Neuson's New 10-ton Wheeled Excavator Meets Future Construction Site Standards

Wacker Neuson's newly redesigned EW100 wheeled excavator sets new standards for performance and comfort. The 10-ton, EW100 mobile excavator offers the power and efficiency of a 14-ton excavator and is designed to meet the needs of the new Construction Site 4.0.

The new EW100 was redesigned in collaboration with customers, associations, attachment manufacturers and companies across the industry to define and set the new Construction Site 4.0 standards. The result is an exceptional plug-and-play tool carrier that meets the future with an intelligent attachment management system, the manufacturer said.

This new standard, MiC 4.0, will allow universal communication and compatibility between attachment and equipment manufacturers. The EW100 is one of the first machines on the market to come MiC 4.0 ready for future updates.

Wacker Neuson's EW100 offers power, speed and mobility to stay on schedule. The newly designed EW100 will be available with two fuel efficient Perkins diesel engine options; standard 74-hp with speeds up to 18.6 miles per hour, or the high-performance model featuring a 136-hp engine and travel speeds up to 24 miles per hour.

The high-performance edition offers multiple auxiliary circuits including high flow. This allows operators to easily run high-performance attachments such as mulchers, mowers and brush cutters. The increased attachment versatility allows the wheeled excavator to quickly and efficiently operate along highways and medians.

The new cab design includes a 10-in. touch screen that is easily programmed to save individual settings and information for different operators and construction sites. The operator-based machine-setting stores both personal key assignment for the operator's own comfort as well as attachment and flow rate settings per user

Additional future-forward features integrated into Wacker Neuson's new EW100 includes optimized visibility as a result of the low engine hood, large windows and doors, as well as a rearview camera. The Active Working Signal (AWS), a long red LED light at the rear of the machine, alerts others on the job site when the machine is moving. The auto-brake function automatically brakes as soon as the operator's foot is removed from the throttle. The joystick steering option allows the operator to choose between driving via a steering wheel or using the ergonomic joysticks.

The EW100 is equipped with a long, triple boom providing a maximum digging depth of 195.6 in., a maximum dumping height of 246.5 in. and a bucket breakout force of 16,478 lbs. per force. The EW100 will hit the streets in North America in mid-2023.

With its power, attachment interface, speed and mobility, the EW100 is setting new standards for excavators, and is the perfect solution for efficient digging and demolition in urban settings as well as roadside maintenance, the manufacturer said.
